A Weekend Worth Leaving Your House For
Hi there,
Last weekend gave us a masterclass in vibes—HERtitude brought the soft power, Boiler Room Lagos turned up the bass, and the Headies… well, let’s just say the plaques might still be in customs. (allegedly🙌🏾)
But if you thought that was a movie, this weekend is a full-blown trilogy.
We’re talking live music, striking art, chill literary hangouts, and plenty to eat and drink. The lineup is STACKED—and your wallet won’t have to cry about it either. Most events are free, and only two cross the 10k mark (we checked).
Let’s get into it.
Friday
![]() | 1. SEE DJS 2.0 Waterfront Bar, Ikoyi | 10:00 PM | ₦5,875 SEE DJS 2.0 is back and louder. If you attended 1.0, you know to expect genre-bending sets, sweaty hugs from strangers, and that Lagos nightlife chaos we live for. I’ll be the guy two drinks deep, yelling, “Run it back!” when the bass drops. |
![]() | 2. Silent Disco Night QMB Hypermart Rooftop, Lekki | 9:00 PM | ₦12,000 Three DJs, one headset, zero noise complaints. This rooftop silent disco allows you to flex your chaotic playlist taste without judgment. You can switch between DJs and dance to your own beat, either vibing solo or syncing up with the crowd. |
![]() | 3. Africa CyberFest 2025 Landmark Centre, VI | 9:00 AM | ₦10,600 If AI, cyber threats, and hacking simulations get your gears turning, this is your jam. Africa CyberFest is where the tech-curious link up IRL. Come for the talks, stay for the demos, and probably tweet every second of it. |
![]() | 4. South Social Praia Lagos, VI | 7:00 PM | ₦7,000 South Social is that effortlessly cool Friday reset. Think sunset cocktails, deep house grooves, and the soft clink of wine glasses over soft life conversations. It’s giving “just one drink” that turns into three and a planless Saturday. |
SATURDAY
![]() | 5. The GoodART Workshop With Rachel G.A.S Foundation, 9b Hakeem Dickson Drive | 11:00 AM | Free Carve out your Saturday morning to be at Rachel’s GoodART Workshop and expect hands-on mixed-media fun, insider tips on turning scraps into showstoppers, and an all-level welcome vibe. It’s the perfect creative reboot before the weekend kicks off. |
![]() | 6. Dream Count – A Literary Hangout British Council, Falomo, Ikoyi | 1:00 PM | ₦2,200 Books, brews, and big ideas! Dream Count brings writers, poets, and storytellers into one cosy lounge. Be there for the open-mic sessions, trading favourite reads, and to plot your next draft over fresh coffee. |
![]() | 7. GTCO Food & Drink Festival GTCentre, Oniru, VI | 10:00 AM | Free Saturday morning turns delicious at GTCO’s Food & Drink Festival. Think gourmet street-style bites, signature cocktails, and live tunes coasted by palm-shaded courtyards. I’m skipping breakfast at home to feast on everything from jollof arancini to craft spritzers. |
![]() | 8. Punters Hangout La Mango Restaurant & Lounge, Ikeja GRA | 3:00 PM | Free This one is for all sports junkies. Punters Hangout is where match-day banter meets ice-cold pints. I’ll be glued to the screens, ‘weighing the odds,’ and cheering every goal like it’s my own (because it actually is). |
SUNDAY
![]() | 9. High Voltage Doings with RNB 4.0: “Under Control” Live in Lagos Terra Kulture, VI | 5:00 PM | ₦10,000 I’m capping off the weekend wrapped in velvet vocals at High Voltage Doings. Who wants to miss live RnB jams, call-and-response heat, and nostalgia that hits like a slow groove? Not me! |

Friday
![]() | 1. Ìgbà Story Room Experience & Exhibition Tunde Odunlade Art Gallery, Bodija, Ibadan | 2:00 PM | ₦2,400 Step into a world of folklore at the Ìgbà Story Room, where Yoruba tales come alive through art, soundscapes, and interactive exhibits. It’s part gallery stroll, part oral-history jam session, and all kinds of magic. |
![]() | 2. Reel N Relax: May Edition Playzone Arena, Garki Abuja | 5:00 PM | ₦6,400 Abuja residents can trade the usual Friday frenzy for Reel N Relax. Enjoy the rooftop screenings, chilled cocktails, and your favourite blockbusters under the stars. Unwind to cinematic vibes and lounge beats with a crew that knows every great line. |
That’s the lineup
May’s just kicked off, and the streets are calling—loud. Whether you’re moving lowkey or outside outside, now’s the time to set the tone.
See you outside,
Israel.
