We Switched It Up—But Your Weekend Groove? Untouched.

Hi there,

You're probably wondering why this newsletter isn't from H.

My name is Israel, and if you've been outside enough in Lagos, you've most likely seen me on stage or backstage, getting content and reviews from fellow outsiders. (Ooh no, I am not one of the performers. Not yet👀)

This weekend, I'll be in my different jersey fits (cos it is jersey weekend for me) with a neat buzz cut or low fade (haven't decided that yet). So, watch out for that 5’9 dark-skinned king in retro jersey fits and say HI. I love cameras too, feel free to take pictures with me.😉

This weekend is PACKED and While I can’t attend HERtitude ‘25 for obvious reasons, I will attend at least one event daily from Friday until Sunday. I know its salary weekend so many of us have money to throw around but most of these events are free, and only very few are above 10k.

Let’s get into it

Friday

1. INSERT NIGHTS: INERTIA
I’ve been pulling up to INSERT NIGHTS: INERTIA almost every month for the past year, and watching it grow has been wild. What started at The Vault Lagos with a tight crowd of die-hards is now pulling full houses at The Mantra, VI, and honestly, it still feels like home. It’s free, the DJ and Hypeman lineup never misses.

SATURDAY

2. Lagos International Finance Expo 2025

Whether you’re a finance pro, startup founder, or just trying to decode crypto and fintech, the Lagos International Finance Expo is where money talk gets interesting. Expect panels, keynote sessions, networking zones, and product showcases—all under one roof.

3. Don’t Drop The Mic: Connect

This one’s for the wordsmiths and storytellers. Whether you’re performing or just vibing in the crowd, expect poetry, spoken word, and music that hits different. It’s a safe space to express, connect, and be seen. Pull up early if you want good seats.

4. SEEN | A Photo Experience By MÌLÍKÌ X Victor Edeh

This isn’t your regular photo exhibit. SEEN is immersive, emotional, and always eye-catching—curated by MÌLÍKÌ and Victor Edeh; it explores identity and presence through lens and light. Expect interactive moments, moody lighting, and thoughtful conversations.

5. HERtitude ’25

HERtitude is all about power, softness, and celebration. This year’s edition brings panels, music, wellness moments, and an all-round electric energy that centers women and femme voices. From fashion and beauty to tech and impact, it’s the ultimate girl-powered gathering. Free the calendar—Saturday’s for HER, and I love it for y'all.

6.  Women In DeFi Summit

Crypto queens assemble. Women in DeFi Summit is always fun for women in blockchain, tech, and finance. (Don’t ask me how I know that) Whether you’re just getting started or deep in DeFi, you’ll leave smarter, connected, and inspired. Expect top-tier speakers, live demos, and hands-on sessions.

7.  No Sleep In The Underground

If you know, you know. No Sleep in the Underground is where the real ones come to rave. Think heavy bass, experimental sounds, low lights, and a crowd that came to lose themselves in the music. Underground in name and spirit—it’s a late-night Lagos gem.

8.  Beach Frenzy

It's 8:30 AM. Sun’s out, energy up, and it’s giving endless summer. That's what Beach Frenzy brings this Saturday at Tarkwabay Lighthouse, alongside DJs, games, water fights, and pure chaos in the sand—just how we like it. Don’t forget sunscreen.

9. World Earth Day

From cleanups to art installations, plant swaps, and eco-conscious market stalls, World Earth Day is all about sustainability, Lagos-style. This Saturday by 1 PM at Alliance Francaise, Ikoyi, there’s another chance for us, climate lovers, to plug in and show up for the Earth.

SUNDAY

10. Lagos Trivia Night

Think you know your stuff? Lagos Trivia Night is back this Sunday. From my experience, doors open at 4:30 PM, and the quiz kicks off at 5:30 PM. Gather your team (up to 8 members), or come solo and join a team on the spot. Expect a night of challenging questions, mini-games, friendly competition, and great vibes.

11. Noir At The Balkony

Experience an evening of soulful music and artistic expression at Noir At The Balkony this Sunday. Starting at 6 PM, this event promises live performances, visual arts, and a community of creatives. It’s the perfect setting to unwind and connect with fellow art enthusiasts. Come early to secure a good spot.

That’s the lineup

The weekend’s here, April’s almost out the door—don’t just sit there. Rally the crew, step out, and catch a vibe while it’s hot.

Are we outside or YES?
